Order where customers already are
Each product opens WhatsApp with a ready-written message, instead of a checkout nobody asked for.
Family gift build Bakery, Kano, Nigeria
A one-page cinematic site for a bakery in Kano, Nigeria, selling cookies, milkshakes and cake pops. It is built around the way customers there already order: a message on WhatsApp.
Relationship: Cookie Island is a bakery run by a member of the founder's family. The site was built as a gift, not as a paid engagement.
Visit the live site
The bakery's customers find it on Instagram and TikTok and order by message. A conventional shop with checkout and accounts would add friction rather than remove it.
Make the products look as good as they taste, then put a pre-written WhatsApp message one tap away from each product. Pickup and delivery details sit next to the menu so the order can be confirmed in one conversation.
Low, warm light and dark wood, set against a serif headline. An original opening film, produced from AI-generated keyframes, establishes the mood, and slow scroll scenes give each product line a moment of its own.
A single static page with GSAP ScrollTrigger and Lenis smooth scrolling, an opening film, scroll-led product scenes, a full menu, a three-step ordering guide and links to the bakery's social accounts. Product photography was supplied by the bakery. Hosted on its own domain.
Live at cookieislandng.shop. Orders happen in WhatsApp, outside the site, so we do not have order data and make no claim about results.
Key design decisions
Each product opens WhatsApp with a ready-written message, instead of a checkout nobody asked for.
A short film and warm scenes sell the experience; the full menu follows for anyone ready to choose.
Everything a customer needs fits in a single scroll on a phone, which is where nearly every visit begins.
